CP order arrest, investigation of police officer over rape allegation

The Lagos State Command's Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the rape claim against one of its officers.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, in a press statement, the Command has arrested one of its personnel accused of defiling a 17-year-old girl.

Assuring the public of a proper investigation, Hundeyin stated: "There is absolutely no attempt at a cover-up because such hideous acts violate the Nigeria Police Force's code of conduct and professional ethics."

"To this end, CP Fayoade assures Nigerians that if the officer is found guilty, he will be prosecuted in accordance with police regulations and the law."

However, in recounting the incident, the 17-year-old victim stated, "I entered the officers' office after Supol Owolabi said his boss was calling me. After exchanging pleasantries, he stood up, locked the door, and put the key in his pocket right away.

When I asked what happened, he told me to cooperate before pulling my clothes and harassing me. While struggling with him, he pulled a gun from his locker, cocked it, and threatened to shoot me.

He stated that he would dispose and throw away my body.

"While arguing with him, he repeatedly hit me on the head with the gun. I fell unconscious and he raped me. When I awoke, he was attempting to dispose of my body in a body bag. I started screaming. He told me that I should put on my clothes back. He started beating me, He told me to put on my show and clean my face. He claimed that he was in charge of the station and that I should not do anything stupid. He informed me that I had fallen into his trap, which he had been attempting to lure me into for the past two years.

He said I should report to his office by 12 p.m. from school every day, and that I should not miss a day."
