Again, gunmen hit Abuja, kidnap FCTA staff, 14 others






No fewer than 15 persons were on Sunday night kidnapped by gunmen at the 1, 000 Housing Estate along Pegi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.


The gunmen who reportedly launched the daring attack at about 11:30pm, shot sporadically into the air and took away several persons who were returning from the city at the time.


Chairman, Pegi Residents Association, Taiwo Aderibigbe, disclosed that among the victims was a staff of the FCT Department of Development Control.


He said; "Gunmen abducted 15 persons along the abandoned 14-kilometre Pegi road. Out of those kidnapped is one Shuaibu Misa, a staff with the Federal Capital Territory Administration.


"We also observed that a husband of the woman who sells second hand clothing at the main entrance to the estate was among the people kidnapped while they were returning from work.


"The kidnappers have not contacted the families of those abducted at the moment, but we are still trying to identify other residents abducted"


Director, FCT Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, confirmed that one of his staff was a victim.


"Yes, it is true. One of our drivers by name Shuaibu Misa was kidnapped and he has not been released", he said.


The FCT Command of the Nigerian Police Force was yet to react to the incident as of the time of filing this report.
