Polls: Salisu wins Ogun Central Senatorial seat

A former Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu has been declared winner of the Ogun Central Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly election held on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Salisu, was declared winner of the election after polling a total of 96,759 votes, to defeat his closest rival, Olumide Aderinokun of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 52,440 votes.

The INEC returning officer, Professor CFI Onwuka declared Salisu winner of the senatorial election at the state’s collation center in Abeokuta.

Reacting to Salisu's victory, the Director General of the Shuaib Afolabi Salisu Campaign Organisation, Babatunde Adesina, described it as unprecedented, stressing that "it is a testament to the fact that Salisu is loved by everyone in the senatorial district". 

“This victory affirms our strong belief that the good people of Ogun Central senatorial district have truly identified Salisu’s hardwork, his commitment to service and loyalty to the people. He is one of them, he lived with them and they can trust him to give Ogun Central senatorial district quality representation at the National Assembly” 

During his campaign, Salisu pledged his commitment to advocate and defend the interests of the people of Ogun Central senatorial district by pushing forward legislation to improve education, health, the economy, and infrastructure development.
