The abducted traditional ruler in Ondo State, the Oloso of Oso, in Ajowa- Akoko, Akoko area of the state, Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun, has regained freedom after payment of N10m ransom.
Oba Olukotun, was released after seven days in the kidnappers den.
The 66 year old monarch, was humiliated before he was abducted by six gunmen who invaded his palace at about 10pm.
They reportedly fired several gunshots at the palace door and walls before they could access the monarchs inner chambers, where they dragged him from before whisking him away to an unknown destination.
A sum of N100m was initially demanded by the kidnappers as ransom before the monarch could be released, but the family begged and it was reduced to N10m
A family source confirmed to newsmen that the kidnappers were eventually paid N10 million before they let the monarch off the hook.
According to him " after we paid the N10m ransom, the monarch, was dropped by the abductors between Kabba and Lokoja, Kogi State around 10pm on Wednesday.
" The monarch is presently receiving medical treatment at a public hospital in Lokoja, which was necessitated by his weariness, having being held captive for seven days.
"Kabiyesi had been released. He was released around 10pm on Wednesday. That was the exact time the family was contacted all the way from Kogi State, where he was dropped between Kabba and Lokoja.
"The abductors collected a sum of N10m ransom being money raised by colleague monarchs, Chiefs of our town and our successful children who are based abroad.
"Our Kabiyesi is in the hospital in Lokoja, where he is being treated, because he has become weary and needed medical treatment to regain strength.
"He will soon reunite with the family here in Oso-Ajowa by the grace of God"
Contacted, the state police spokesperson , Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the release of the monarch.
Odunlami, however claimed ignorance of ransom paid by the family and relations of the monarch to secure his release.
