65,699 PVCs, 904 ballot boxes, other movable assets destroyed, as hoodlums attack INEC office in Ogun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has said that 65,699 Permanent Voter Cards, 904 ballot boxes, 29 voting cubicles ,30 megaphones , 57 election bags and eight electric power generators were destroyed, on Thursday, as suspected arsonists set the Abeokuta South Local Government office of the Commission on fire.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, obtained by our Correspondent.

Okoye said the incident happened at about 1.15am, when the hoodlums attacked the premises.

He expressed worries over attack on the Commission's offices in Ogun and Osun State.

Okoye said that he received a report from the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun, Dr. Olaleke Agboke that the Ede South Local Government of INEC was equally attacked.

The INEC boss explained that the damage on the Ede South Local Government was limited to a section of the building, and that only furniture items were destroyed
