    10 die, 14 injured in Ogun separate accidents

    No fewer than 10 persons were on Wednesday confirmed dead, while 14 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in two separate accidents on Lagos-Ibadan expressway 

    The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ahmed Umar, made the disclosed in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

    According to the statement, the first crash 
    occurred at about 1425HRS on Lagos-Ibadan expressway  around Fidiwo area of Ogunmakin.

    "A total of 18 persons were involved and all male adult, 13 persons were injured, while four deaths were recorded from the road traffic crash which were burnt beyond recognition".

    The suspected cause of  the crash, according to FRSC were speed, tyre bust  and loss of control, saying that the vehicle somersaulted and went into flame.
     
    "The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere and some to Idera  Hospital, Ssgamu

     
    The second crash, which involved a Toyota Previa with registration number LRG 165 AA occurred at about 1755HRS around Kara turning on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.


    The statement read, " the FRSC rescue team in Mowe unit command  carried out rescue operation  on Lagos-Ibadan expressway  around Kara turning ".

    "The crash which occurred at about 1755HRS . One vehicle was involved  with registration number LRG165AA a Toyota PREVIA".
      
    "A total number of 08  persons were  involved which comprises of 06 female  adult and 02  male  adult".

    "Number of people injured were one female adult  and number killed were six; five female  adult and one male adult".

    "The injured victim was taken to Redeem  hospital  for Medical treatment, while the dead bodies were deposited at Idera Hospital morgue sagamu". 

    The suspected cause  of the  crash was  excessive speed which led to loss of control  

    The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Corps Commander Ahmed Umar described the crash as avoidable act and advised motorists to avoid excessive speed and dangerous driving especially on Lagos-Ibadan expressway which is still under construction 

    He commiserated with the victims of the crash and the family and also enjoined them to contact the FRSC Command in Mowe  for details of the crash and reclaim the properties of the victims recovered  from the scene of the crash
