2027: Group backs Tinubu's re-election, declares support Abiodun, GNI

A political support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), known as The Believe Network, Ogun East, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

It also endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun for the Ogun East Senatorial seat, and adopted Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, as its preferred governorship candidate.

The endorsements were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the group’s sensitization programme held across the Ogun East Senatorial District.

The communiqué, jointly signed by Engr. Femi Adebanjo, Prince Adegboyega Adesanya, Alhaja Yetunde Oyemala and Otunba Afolabi Akinwunmi, commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms since May 2023, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.

According to the group, although the policies triggered initial hardship, they have significantly improved federation revenues and helped restore investor confidence in the nation’s economy.

It consequently endorsed Tinubu for a second term, stressing that continuity remains critical to consolidating the ongoing reforms and sustaining economic recovery.

At the state level, the Network lauded Governor Abiodun for what it described as massive infrastructural development across Ogun East, especially in road construction and industrial expansion.

The group singled out the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, as a landmark project capable of transforming the state’s economic fortunes, particularly with the commencement of cargo operations.

Expressing confidence in Abiodun’s capacity to effectively represent Ogun East at the National Assembly, the group formally backed his senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On the governorship race, the Network unanimously declared support for Isiaka, citing his long-standing political engagement, grassroots appeal and legislative experience.

It noted that his current membership of the House of Representatives and leadership of strategic committees underscore his competence and national relevance.

The communiqué urged members to participate actively in the ongoing APC registration and revalidation exercise, while mobilising support for the party within their respective communities.

Describing itself as a values-driven political movement committed to accountable governance, responsible leadership and community development, the Network reaffirmed its alignment with Isiaka’s leadership philosophy.

It traced its ideological roots to the launch of The Believe Movement in 2017, founded on the principles of honest and purposeful governance.

The group also appreciated members for their loyalty and steadfastness over the years, noting that their commitment has sustained its structure despite political challenge.
