Stand-Up for Women Society visits Customs in Ogun

 




The StandUp for Women Society (SWS), Ogun State  Chapter has paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Area 1 Command, Idiroko, as part of its ongoing efforts to build partnerships that promote women empowerment and inclusion in national development.

During the visit, the  National  President, Liberator Barrister Deborah Ijadele -Adetona represented by the State Chairperson, Liberator Folake Ade-Adeniji said the society is committed to engaging key institutions like the Customs Service in advocating for gender equality, especially in areas where women are underrepresented.



“We believe institutions like the Nigeria Customs Service have an important role to play in advancing women’s rights and development. Our visit today is to familiarise and seek ways we can work together to promote gender inclusion,” she said.

The Customs Area 1 Controller, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, welcomed the delegation and commended the society for its mission.   He assured them of the Command’s willingness to support initiatives that promote education, empowerment, and welfare for women, especially in border communities.



Comptroller Godwin Otunla, gave Kudos to Non Governmental Organizations such as StandUp For Women Society (S.W.S)for their relentless pursuit at Liberating Rural Women in skill acquisition, empowerment and giving voice to the voiceless, said NGOs mostly run the association out of their pockets.  

The visit also  featured presentations,  and discussions on future collaborations, including mentorship, awareness  campaign and the forthcoming lnternational Conference and Summit  holding between Tuesday 9th and Saturday 13th  September, 2025 at Lagos Airport Hotel, lkeja. 



This engagement marks a step forward in building strong ties between civil society and government agencies in the push for a more inclusive and gender balanced society.
