Oyo APC chairman accused of undermining party interests

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagelu Local Government Area, Oyo State, have raised concerns about the actions of the party's chairman, Mr. Fatai Awoyoola, alleging that he is undermining the interests of the party and its members.

In a statement issued by Chief Olusegun Ajuwon and Gafar Oyebade, the members criticised Awoyoola for his remarks regarding Chief Abisoye Fagade, the Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Hospitality and Tourism.

They claimed that Fagade is well-connected within the local political scene, contrary to Awoyoola's assertions.

The statement, shared with journalists in Ibadan, highlighted the lack of local and ward meetings since the 2023 general elections, which Awoyoola has acknowledged.

Ajuwon and Oyebade described the excused for the absence as untenable, arguing that it has harmed the party’s standing in Lagelu Local Government.

They called on APC members to unite with Fagade and others to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The duo  also defended Fagade’s contributions, including his purchase of a branded Toyota Sienna bus for campaign purposes, emphasising his active role in the party.

The statement criticised Awoyoola’s leadership, alleging that his connections with opposition parties have compromised the party’s interests.
