FG pegs admission age at 16

The federal government has officially pegged entry admission age into the nation's tertiary institutions at 16 years.

This came as the government warned against illegal admissions, insisting that any admission conducted outside of the Central  Admission Processing System, CAPS, would be illegal and perpetrators would be prosecuted.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said these on Tuesday while declaring open the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB in Abuja.

He warned that heads of institutions found engaged in admission fraud would face prosecution.

On admission entry year, Alausa declared that the official 16 years set by the government is not negotiable.
