Former Super Eagles Coach, Christian Chukwu, dies at 74






Christian Chukwu, former Super Eagles coach and legendary figure in Nigerian football, has passed away. 


He died in the early hours of Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the age of 74.


A close family friend who confirmed his passing said the cause of death remains unclear.


However, it was revealed that Chukwu was taken to Niger Foundation Hospital in Enugu’s Independence Layout on Friday for treatment.


Fondly known as “Chairman,” Chukwu was a towering figure in Nigerian football history, celebrated both as a player and a coach. 


His contributions to the sport earned him national and international recognition.

Recall that Chukwu recently led Ex-Rangers player to attend the burial ceremony of the mother of Vanguard Saturday Editor Onochie Anibeze, at Aguobu Owa in Ezeagu Local government Area, Enugu State.

Chukwu hailed from Obe community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. He is survived by four children, two sons and two daughters.
