The Vice Principal of Dugja Bayan Tasha Junior Secondary School in Biu local government area of Borno State, Mallam Aliyu Mohammed, his wife and three children have loss their lives, following an outbreak of fire which erupted in their house in the early hours of Sunday.
The cause of the fire incident which has sparked concern among relatives and neighbours is yet to be ascertained at press time, but sources revealed that it is not unconnected with electrical fault.
It was gathered that when the fire started in the parlour, it soon escalated, the deceased struggled with his wife and the other three children to escape, but unfortunately, they were consumed as there was no exit as the fire had spread to all exit points.
Different associations and groups have taken to social media platforms to express their condolences to the family of the deceased, even as all the remains of the deceased were buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites.
Southern Borno Progressive Union in a statement said, "we extend our deepest condolences on the tragic passing of Aliyu Mohammed, Vice Principal of Dugja B/Tasha JSS, and his entire family due to the devastating fire outbreak.
"This is a heartbreaking loss for the community and a great blow to the education sector in Borno, where his selfless service and dedication have contributed significantly to the growth of education in the state.
"We pray that Allah (SWT) grants them Aljannatul Firdausi and gives their loved ones the strength and patience to bear this immense loss. May their legacy live on through the lives they touched and the contributions they made to the betterment of our state.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the entire community during this difficult time, May their Souls Rest In Aljanatul Firdaus".
Likewise, in a condolence message signed by Bukar Umar Tashkalma,
Secretary General of Biu Forum expressed shock over the incident.
"The Biu Forum is deeply saddened on the tragic loss of Aliyu Mohammed (Danasabe) and his entire family of five, who perished in a devastating fire that engulfed their residence behind the motor park in Biu, Borno State, in the early hours of Sunday, 2nd February 2025.
"May Allah grant them mercy, forgiveness, and an abode in Jannah Firdausi. May He also provide comfort, strength, and solace to their loved ones, friends, and the entire community during this difficult time". Tashkalma stated.
