Nigeria's future depends on defeating corruption - Olukoyede

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has asserted that Nigeria's future hinges on the successful combat against corruption.

He made this statement over the weekend during the Passing Out Parade for 169 newly commissioned Detective Assistant Cadets at the Nigeria Police Mobile Training College in Ende Hills, Nasarawa State.

"The fight against economic and financial crimes is one on which the future of our nation depends," he stated. "The future and wellbeing of the country are tied to the unrelenting pursuit of the fight against corruption and these crimes."

Olukoyede urged the cadets to embrace integrity and discipline in their roles as anti-corruption officers, emphasising the importance of upholding the EFCC’s core values. He stressed that the cadets are crucial in the effort to eradicate economic and financial crimes, a national challenge vital for the country’s progress.

He charged, "You have been trained not only in law enforcement but also in ethics, discipline, leadership, and the need to uphold the Commission's core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration. A great deal of trust is placed in you as cadets of the Commission. Your families, the EFCC, and the citizens of Nigeria look to you to uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity."

Olukoyede acknowledged that the cadets would likely face challenges that would test their integrity and commitment in the course of their duties.
