Gas explosion on Saturday night has occured in Sabon Wuse, Tafa local government area of Niger state.
Because of the late night occurrence, what could have led to mass death and other calamities was averted.
Those who were in their various houses that heard the big bang of the explosion ran out for safety.
Thick smoke resulting from the explosion enveloped the entire area most especially and the entire town thereby causing more panic and confusion.
It was gathered that some residential houses, shops and vehicles were completely razed down due to the explosion.
Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency,(NSEMA) Abdullahi Baba Arah who confirmed the story said the explosion was as a result of transloading of Gas from a Gas trailer tanker to the surface tank.
He said ,"At about 11:00 pm yesterday been Saturday,8th February 2025, one Tasiu Gas Plant, beside Kalasma Filling Station, sabon wuse along Kaduna express way got exploded and busted into fire.
"The incident occurred as a result of transloading gas from a gas trailer tanker to the surface tank and both the trailer and the gas plant were completely burnt along with a car belonging to one Abubakar Yakubu parked by the side.
" Similarly, Ngeil grains processing factory behind the gas plant was also gutted by the inferno and about 550 bags of beans and six bags of soya beans were burnt in the factory," the DG declared.
However, no life was lost and the fire has been put under control and normalcy has returned to the area.
Within three weeks, similar incidents had occured in the state, first in Dikko in Gurara local government area where over one hundred people were roasted beyond recognition, scores wounded and properties worth millions of naira lost. The second was along Lapai-Agaie road after Bida town which also occured late night. The driver and the motor boy sustained injuries and rushed to the hospital while the area was immediately cordoned off by Security Agencies while the third one was in Sabon Pegi in Mashegu local government area where mining explosives and other dangerous materials stored in a shop exploded destroying houses, shops and other valuables.
