Electoral fraud: UNIUYO Professor bags 3 years jail term


 




The High Court in Akwa Ibom State has sentenced Prof. Ignatius Uduk, of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) to three years imprisonment for electoral fraud during 2019 general elections.

Of three count charges preferred against him by the prosecution, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Presiding judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang of Uyo High Court 5, in the judgement, acquitted Uduk, Professor of Human Kinetics, of Count 1, convicted and sentenced him to three years imprisonment each on Count 2 and 3 to be served concurrently.

Another UNIUYO Professor, Peter Ogban, also arraigned by INEC under similar circumstance, had earlier been convicted and sentenced also to three years imprisonment in the trial that opened in 2019 over that year's general elections.
