The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has been honored with a Special Service Award by the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The award was presented by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. C. G. Musa, during a special ceremony in Abuja commemorating the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Gen. Musa emphasized the importance of recognizing individuals for their contributions while they are alive, describing Senator Gbenga Daniel as a dedicated supporter of the military, both during his tenure as Governor of Ogun State and as a Senator representing Ogun East.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Senate President, Sen. Godswil Akpabio, Senator Daniel praised the Armed Forces for their unwavering sacrifices. “The dedication and sacrifices of our Armed Forces are invaluable contributions to the unity and progress of our nation, and they can never be fully compensated,” he stated.

The event also featured an impressive art exhibition and a showcase of high-caliber, locally manufactured military vehicles, underscoring Nigeria’s strides in defense innovation.

Dignitaries at the event included EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, representatives of current service chiefs, and retired military leaders such as Admiral Dele Ezeoba, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Gen. Lucky Irabor, and Air Marshal Isiaka Amao.
