The final match of the 2025 late Isiaka Adeleke memorial championship was abruptly brought to an end as one of the players, identified as Adeyemi Adewale, slumped on the field.
It was gathered that the annual former Osun State Governor's memorial championship final match was ongoing between Heritage Football Club, Ilesa-West and Ejigbo local government when the incident happened.
The deceased, it was gathered had earlier celebrated his 29th birthday on Thursday before the match.
Confirming the incident on Friday, Osun Police Command spokesperson, CSP Yemisi Opalola said Adewale slumped on the field.
"He was rushed to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and was later declared dead and his corpse deposited at the morgue", she said.
