Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru has has suspended the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Uchenna Igwe over alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duties.
Nwifuru announced the suspension of the Commissioner, while briefing journalists at his office where he said that he gave him assignment which he failed to discharge.
The suspension of Igwe, has brought to four the number of suspended Commissioners to within one week over allegedly indulging in gross misconduct.
The governor said the embattled commissioner, Igwe failed to carry out effectively an assignment given to him by the governor, on issues bordering on the payment of local government pension by council chairman in the state.
Igwe was asked to proceed on three months suspension.
The governor had on November 25, 2024 suspended indefinitely Commissioner for Water Resources Mr. Chinedu Nkah.
Commissioners for Housing Mr. Francis Ori and Health Dr. Moses Ekuma for three months.
Also suspended on November 24. for three months were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, the Executive Secretaries of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency.
