Ogun LG polls: LP candidate unveils 7-point agenda to tackle grassroots underdevelopment

The Labour Party chairmanship candidate for Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun State, in the forthcoming November 16 Local Government elections in the State, Omololu Idowu, on Friday, promised to tackle underdevelopment at the grassroots.

Idowu said that if given the opportunity to be the next elected Chairman of the Council area, he will pursue the prosperity and the rapid development of the local government on his policy thrust of seven-point agenda, bothering on poverty reduction, infrastructural development, revamping the agricultural sector among others.

Omolulu disclosed this at Lafenwa, Abeokuta during the flag off of the party's campaign for the upcoming Local Government elections in the state.

He said that the people of the local government deserved a better deal and that it is the resolve of the opposition party to begin to address their yearnings and make life quite abundant for the rural dwellers.

He said, "Abeokuta North deserves better. Together, we can build a brighter future. I pledge to work tirelessly, listening to your concerns, and delivering results that benefit our community.

"Our seven-point agenda cut across agricultural development, rural infrastructure, affordable and accessible qualitative healthcare, education and capacity building, economic empowerment and poverty reduction, community security as well as transparency and inclusive governance".

Idowu urged the people of the local government to vote for the Labour Party in the coming LG elections pledging not to redefine grassroots governance in the local government.

On his part the State Chairman party, Engr Lookman Jagun appealed to the people of the state to cast their votes for the Labour Party, saying that the party's programmes have been designed to give the people a fresh breath of good governance at the grassroots.

Speaking during the campaign, Comrade Akanbi Simeon, the party Chairman for the local government said that it was already a new beginning for the people of the local government saying that the party members will work tirelessly to ensure the party's victory and liberate the people from every form of backwardness.

Mr. Malik Olaleye, the State Youths Leader of the party, equally expressed optimism about the party taking over governance in the local government adding that the seven-point agenda undescore the values of LP which address the heart of the needs of residents of the council area.
