SixthSense Initiative honours Olowu, Soyinka at summer children reading camp

By Peter Adedoyin

The seventh SixthSense Summer Children Reading Camp officially opened on Sunday, August 4th, and will run until Saturday, August 10th, 2024.

The camp's opening ceremony took place on Monday, August 5th, at the Baptist Girls College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, and was a resounding success, exceeding expectations with an incredible 120-minute programme.

A statement, signed by Founder/Coordinator, The SixthSense Initiative, Abiodun Lasile, noted that
the camp aims to promote a love for reading among children and provide a supportive environment for them to develop their literacy skills. This year's edition has attracted a large number of participants, and the organisers are thrilled with the enthusiasm and engagement shown by the children so far.

This Thursday, August 8th, the camp will host its official party day, celebrating two distinguished individuals who have supported the initiative: HRM Oba Prof Saka Matemilola FNSE Otileta VII Olowu Oluyalo of Owu Kingdom Abeokuta and Nobel Laureate Professor Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka, who serves as the camp's ambassador. Her Excellency Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, will be the Special Guest of Honour, another Ambassador.

The celebration will feature various activities, including readings, performances, and awards. All guests are invited to join the celebration, which will commence at 2:45 pm.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to making reading exciting for our children again.
