Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Senator Ireti Kingibe, LP, Federal Capital Territory, FCT has raised the alarm that she was being marginalised
in the Senate Committee as regards issues concerning her constituency even as the highest elected political person in the nation's Capital.
Speaking in Abuja when she came under Order 10 and 11 of the Senate Standing Order, Senator Kingibe said that she was not carried along in the scheme of things with regard to things relating to the FCT even the 2024 FCT Statutory Supplementary Appropriation bill.
Kingibe who came up with the matter after the presentation of the 2024 N98.5bn Supplementary budget of the FCT, said, “Mr President, I am the highest elected person in the FCT with over four million people.
“ I am not usually carried along in the issues that pertain to the FCT, especially the matters of budget.
“ The FCT supplementary budget is presented today but I am not even aware of the whole procedure, I was not invited to any meeting where the budget was discussed.”
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio interrupted her immediately when he requested that she would have come up with a motion in line with Order 10 and 11 that she had quoted.
It was then resolved that Kingibe presents the complaint in a motion next legislative day.
