Olubadan stool: I’m hale, hearty, ready to mount the throne – Olakulehin

The Olubadan-designate, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin, has expressed readiness to mount the Olubadan stool as the 43rd monarch, saying that God is with him and it is his appointed time, the reason he is hale and hearty.

The Olubadan-in-waiting said this in his Alalubosa, Ibadan residence while welcoming and appreciating members of the Oyo State Advisory Council led by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), who paid him a courtesy visit on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Ayorinde, Chairman of the Advisory Council had said that he and the first Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, with the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Segun Olayiwola, had been sent by the governor to greet the Olubadan-designate and tell him that he would also come to visit him when he is back from the travel he embarked on.

Olakulehin was flanked by four of his High Chiefs including Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi (Asipa Olubadan); Oba Eddy Oyewale (Osi Olubadan); Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe (Osi Balogun); and Oba Kola Adegbola (Asipa Balogun Olubadan).

In his response, the monarch-in-waiting who addressed the delegation and journalists in attendance in a very stable and coherent voice, said “I am happy and excited seeing your delegation from our governor.

“Since I was told that that you are coming, I have told my Chiefs to join me in receiving you. I am happy that my people are here with me. I am fully ready.

“I know God is behind me. He has said that I am the next Olubadan, and I know truly that it is my turn. By God’s grace, I will not disappoint you, my people. All of us who have been together in the system for a long shall celebrate the success together. I thank the Governor for initiating this visit. We shall equally be expecting him as promised”, Olakulehin said.

Responding on behalf of the Oba High Chiefs in attendance, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe who shed tears of joy said he was thus elated because “Ibadan has never been destroyed and it shall not.

We thank the Governor. He is a true-born of Ibadan and I pray that he will never be out to shame. It is now that I can sleep soundly. Everybody can now see that our Kabiyesi is hale and hearty”, he said.
