Controller, Kwara state command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, is dead.
It was reliably gathered from his neighbours in Zango area of Ilorin on Saturday that Adeyinka died in his sleep Friday evening.
He was said to have drove himself from office back to his resident , without any sign of ailment on Friday.
"He drove himself back to his house, without any sign of ailment, his family said, he ate as usual and left them in the dining to his living room to sleep around 10pm.
"There was to be a community meeting this morning and he was one of the active members. It was when his family members didn't see him to come out of his bedroom around 7am which was unusual, that one of the children went into his bedroom only to find him stone dead on his bed.
"There was instant commotion, as the already scheduled community meeting could no longer hold as a result of the development," said one of his friends and member of the community who craved anonymity.
Meanwhile in a statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Adegbulugbe Philip Olumide, stated that the controller died "suddenly" in the early hours of Saturday.
The statement said that Oyun was in the office until 6:00 pm on Friday.
"We regret to announce the sudden death of Controller Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, who passed on to glory in the early hours of today, Saturday, May 25, 2024.
"Until his demise he was the Controller of Correctional Service, Kwara State Command. A. A. Oyun was in the office until 6:pm on Friday, May 24, 2024.
"His sudden death is a colossal loss to the entire staff of the command. He was an active, dedicated, committed and a transparent leader.
"His Burial Arrangement will be announced later".
