A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has restrained the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from conducting any further proceedings to probe the immediate past administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, until after the determination of the instant suit instituted by the later.
The court presided over by Justice Simon Amobeda issued the interim order after reviewing the affidavit supporting the ex parte application, by Ganduje.
Justice Amobeda however ordered that, "an order of interim injunction restraining the 4th and 5th Defendants/Respondents from performing the executive functions assigned to them by the Governor of Kano State in Court Rooms meant to adjudicate disputes between persons and authorities in Kano, pending the hearing and determination of the instant suit."
The court further gave the respondents period of five (5) days from the date of receiving the court order and documents to file their response.
The Respondents in the suit are: National Judicial Council, Revenue Moblisation Allocation And Fiscal Commission, Attorney-General GENEl Kano State, Hon.. Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu and Hon. Justice Zuwaira Yusuf.
Meanwhile, Justice Amobeda, fixed 28th May 2024 for hearing of the matter.
Recall that Governor Yusuf had inaugurated two judicial commission of inquiries to probe cases of alleged misappropriation of public properties, political violence and missing persons between 2015 to 2023 under the immediate past governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration.
