A 25-year-old man, Tajudeen Narudeen, has been remanded in the Okitipupa Correctional Centre, for stabbing a man with knife
Takudeen was arraigned before Chief Magistrate B.A. Ikusika, on a count charge of criminal insubordination.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on April 13, 2024 at about 9:00pm at Olorunyomi Street, Odigbo, Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Inspector James Usifo, told the court that the defendant stabbed one Nathaniel Onakujo, with a knife at his back and inflicted injury on him.
The offence contravenes Section 351 of the Criminal, Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
When the charge was read, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
Usifo, therefore, sought an adjournment to enable him study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel, Mr. A. Ayemoro, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application. But he prayed the court to grant his client bail on most liberal terms.
However, the prosecutor opposed the bail application, saying the defendant would jump bail, if granted.
The Chief Magistrate B. A. Ikusuka, ordered the remand of the defendant to the correctional centre and adjourned the case till May 20, 2024, for hearing.
