Rain storm destroys over N100m property in Ogun

Property worth over N100 million, including vehicles, electrical poles were on Sunday destroyed by the heavy rain, around Under bridge in Sango-Ota and Oju-Ore area of Ota, both in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State.


Vanguard reliably gathered that no fewer than 20 electrical poles and wires were destroyed  during the heavy downpour.


The downpour which started around 11.30 a.m., last for about one hour was accompanied by heavy wind, which also destroyed several vehicles and other properties in the area.


Spokesperson for the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Busolami Tunwase, confirmed the incident to newsmen.


Tunwase said, "no live was lost, but properties, estimated at over N100 million, including vehicles and electric poles were destroyed by the heavy rain".


She said IBEDC was aware of the development and had deployed its technical team to the area.


“We are appealing to the public to stay clear of every electrical pole, wire and other installation until we are able to clear everything off the road,” the IBEDC official said.
