The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it did not monitor the purported national convention of the crisis-ridden Labour Party (LP) which reportedly held on Wednesday in Nnewi, Anambra state.
Organized labour through the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC had few days ago written the Commission, advising it not to validate the said convention by monitoring it.
When contacted on Wednesday, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi said the commission was not present at the event.
"INEC did not monitor the Labour Party LP convention in Anambra State", he told Vanguard.
At the said convention, the party had reportedly returned its embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure to office. It also reserved its 2027 Presidential Election ticket for Mr Peter Obi among other decisions it took.
