Oke-Odan Festival 2023: Oba Fagbenro commends Abiodun, Senator Adeola, demands for more developmental projects



 



Nigeria - The ancient town of Oke-Odan, in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State was agog today, Saturday 2nd December, 2023 as sons and daughters of the town and visitors from all walks of life trooped to the football pitch of Muslim Progressive High School, venue of the Festival.


The Oloke-Odan of Oke-Odan, HRM Oba Dr. Oluwarotimi Oluremi Fagbenro, Lajulo ll in his address, while commending the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his giant strides of development and progress all over the state, appealed to him to construct Oke-Odan bye pass road between the Owode-Idiroko road at the Oke-isa axis before Oke-Odan main township and the Oke-Odan-Owo road at the Idita axis. 


Kabiyesi also commended Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola for facilitating an elegant health centre in Oke-Odan. "However, distinguished Senator Adeola, just after this project, please loose no time in giving us a pavilion (YAYI PAVILION) in the Oke-Odan town centre like you did at Ilaro".


Oba Fagbenro told his subjects, time has come to give names to township roads and streets in Oke-Odan. According to him, "Oke-Odan is more than ripe and large enough for our street and roads to be named through specific names agreed upon by all of us", Kabiyesi said. 


In his speech, Alhaji Chief Alli Adelani Ajibode, Chairman, Oke-Odan Festival Central Planning Committee commended the elite group of the town, G30, which is made up of Oke-Odan Indigenes (Home and Abroad) for donating millions of naira to the festival programme. 


He announced, four ruling Houses approved to produce kings for Oke-Odan as follows: 1. Agbole Odunfa Ago Ilaro. 2. Agbole Alibajoye of Ago Eyo. 3. Agbole Ogidan Ago Ilobi and 4. Agbole Lajulo Ago Erinja. 


Chief Ajibode added that, the four kingmakers entitled to select the holders of the chieftaincy title are: Alaagba, Are Oje, Atoku and Apena. 


The Chairman of the occasion, Otunba Oluwaranti Lekan Osifeso, (Olotu Olowa & Madasa of Ijebuland), congratulated Oke-Odan people for the success of the festival. 


The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Dr Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle MFR in his speech noted that, cultural festival is not celebration of deity but celebrations of culture. 


He urged all Yewas to continue celebrating their culture. 


The representative of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, Special Adviser on EGIS & Urban Development on behalf of the the governor announced a gift of a block of classrooms to Muslim Progressive High School. 



Among the dignitaries at the occasion included: The Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi, Ogun Commissioner for Economic for Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan, Hon. Kolawole Lawal Mobolorunduro (KLM), Consumate Diplomat Chief Isaiah Adeleke Ebo (Oga Ilu of Oke-Odan), Alhaji Adeniji, Chief Jubril Abiodun Elegbede (Balogun Ago Eyo of Oke-Odan), Prince Femi Dokunmu, Chief Adetunji Ebo (Ogboye of Oke-Odan), Chief Idowu Dada (Mayegun of Idogo land) and all members of Mace Club of Nigeria. 


Traditional rulers at the occasion included, the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland HRM Oba Dr. Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle MFR, HRM Oba Dr. Oluwarotimi Oluremi Fagbenro, Lajulo ll, Oloke-Odan of Oke-Odan, HRH Oba Joseph Olamide Adesiyan (Onihunbo of Ihunbo), HRH Oba Adesegun Rufai Alao (Olowo of Owo), HRH Oba Kazeem Aderibigbe (Alale of Ajilete), and HRH Oba Sikiru Isola Olawarikan Adegbola (Alaya of Oniro Agude). 


Several sons and daughters of the town from UK, Canada, USa etc came home for the festival.
