Encomium as DSP Ojo bows out from Nigeria Police

 It was gale of commendations and best wishes as family, friends, associates and colleagues of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ojo Salihu gathered at the Nigeria Police officers Mess, GRA, Ibara, on Friday to celebrate him as he bows out, after 35 years of meritorious service.

 Leading the commendation, the Alawowo of Awowo in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, Oba Abdulgafar Olasunkanmi Tijani, who offered royal blessings to  the retired Police officer described an upright and down to the earth officer, who has contributed immensely to the force at different departments he has worked.

The monarch added that the presence of many people from far and near to the occasion showed the good type of person  the DSP Ojo Salihu (rtd) was while in service.


He prayed for God's continued blessings, protection on Ojo and his family, stressing that God will continue to strengthen and  abide with him.

In his remarks,the Commander EOD,CRBN, Base 12, ACP Taiwo Akingbehin admonished officers and men of Nigeria Police Force to always be available for each other, and as well create good image for themselves while in service.

He said, "rather than building a higher fence, build a wider table to accommodate people" saying that doing this will make you closer to God.

"Think inward while you are still in service, what you do today shows tomorrow, it is what you plant that you will reap

"This gentleman we are celebrating today, I can vouch for him and beat my chest for he has been of good character. I congratulate you and pray that you won't proceed unto death, calamity as you retire from service.

"All good things you are yet to get while in service will be added unto you by the grace of God", he prayed.

The Chairman of the occasion and Chief Executive Officer of AY Motors, Alhaji Yekinni Ismail, described the retiree as a man of honour and  humility who has been known for the past 15 years. He enjoined those in service to imbibe the good conduct of the retiree.

"Those still in service should always be good to people, so that the relationship built while in service will continue thereafter".

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ojo Salihu(rtd) enlisted into the  Nigeria Police Force in 1st December, 1988 and trained at the Police College Kaduna, Kaduna State where he passed out as constable.

In 1995, the celebrant was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 2003, DSP Salihu was promoted to the rank of sergeant, Inspector in 2011 and in 2018 became ASP 11 and ASP 1 in 2020.



He, however, rose to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, in 2023.

He is an indigene of kogi State, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

His working experience spanned various departments in Kwara,, Edo, Abia States before he was finally transferred to EOD-CRBN Base 12, Abeokuta, Ogun state in 2016 where he served and successfully retired.

Highlights of the celebration include cutting of  retirement Cake,celebrant Dance with family and presentation of gifts.
