Lecturer escapes death over alleged missing genital in Makurdi

A pastor of Living Faith Church and lecturer at the Akawe Torkula Polytechnic Makurdi, Dr. Emmanuel Aime on Wednesday, narrowly escaped death after he was allegedly accused of snatching the genital of a young man.

An eyewitness had it that the Pastor was mobbed after he came out of one of the commercial banks on New Otukpo road at about 10am when a young man confronted him and raised the alarm that his genital was missing.

He said the alarm attracted other persons suspected to be the cohorts of the young man who descended on the Pastor asking him to return the missing genital.

According to him, "as he was being beaten other persons joined in the mob action. They striped the Lecturer and dispossessed him of his money, phone and valuables.

"They beat him to a pulp, smashed his head with stone and watched him bleed profusely before the police from the 'E Division' rescued him from being killed.

"Luckily, some persons were arrested by the police over the matter because it was becoming obvious that people falsely raise alarm of missing genitals as bait to rob their victims."

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene who confirmed the development decried the antics of criminals who now resort to accusing innocent persons of stealing their genitals in order to manhandle and steal from them.

She said two suspects had been arrested in connected with the incident.
