A Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, sitting in Ikeja has convicted a medical doctor, Femi Olaleye, for defiling his wife’s niece and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Justice Rahmon Oshodi who had earlier dismissed Dr Olaleye's “no case application”, found him guilty as charged.
The Lagos State Government had filed a two count charge against Olaleye, and accused him of having unlawful sexual intercourse and sexually assaulted the victim by penetrating her mouth with his penis.
The offences contravened Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Convicting the doctor, Justice Oshodi held that the prosecution proved the two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against the defendant.
The judge said that the evidence adduced before the court, against the defendant was compelling and proven beyond reasonable doubt.
According to him, the confessional statement of the defendant which he made before his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Buruji and the DPO of Anthony Police Station that he regretted his act proved that he committed the offences.
The judge said that the oral statement which the defendant denied, had the NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold water.
“You are a dangerous offender and you should be ashame” the judge told the defendant.
