Gunmen attack motorcyclists in Osun, kill one, injured another






Tragedy struck in Ifon-Orolu, headquarters of Orolu Local Government Area of Osun State, as masked gunmen reportedly attacked motorcyclists, killing
one person and injured another.


It was gathered that the gunmen numbering about six waylaid commercial motorcyclists at the outskirt of Ifon town, along Oba road where they perpetrated the evil on Wednesday.

An eye witness account disclosed that two commercial motorcyclists were attacked and shot at on the road before the matter was reported to the police.

One of the motorcyclists identified as Taye from Amoloju compound in Erin-Osun, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state was said to have died before he can get proper treatment while the other one, who is from Ifon sustained injury to his hands is responding to treatment.

The wounded victim in a video obtained by Vanguard, said he was waylaid along Oba road by six or seven men wearing black mask.

"After I told them I am a native of Ifon, one of them who emerged from the bush holding gun, shoot me at the hand and I managed to run from the scene abandoning my motorcycle", he said.

Also, a community head in Erin-Osun, Basiru Agboola, disclosed that the regent of Ifon informed him of the shooting but on getting to the town, Taye had already been moved to another hospital.

"We did not meet him nor Ifon community leaders when we got there, we were told he was rejected at the first two private hospitals he was taken. While on their way to Uniosun teaching hospital in Osogbo, he died on the road", said the community leader.


Osun Police Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola while confirming the incident said she cannot confirm the reported death, but added that police operatives are managing shootings between Ifon and Ilobu communities as at the time of filing the report.
