The Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, has congratulated all sons and daughters of the ancient city of Ago-Iwoye for witnessing the 2023 Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration.
Oba Adenugba, who was elated to receive the sons and daughters of the city, who were in his palace on Monday with 'woro' leaves to pay homage to him.
It would be recalled that the 2023 edition of the annual Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration has kicked off, on Monday, 9th October, 2023, with plucking of Woro leaves and paying homage to Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, at his palace.
Oba Adenugba, while receiving the Woro leaves from the joyous indigenes of Ago-Iwoye who trooped to his palace, prayed for peace, progress and development of the town.
He called for moderation during the celebration, urging that the love and peaceful atmosphere that exist in the town should be sustained .
According to a press release by the Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of 2023 Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration, Yomi Ogunsanu, several activities have been lined up to commemorate the one week event.
Ogunsanu said activities slated for Tuesday, 10th October, 2023, include; Free eye screening exercise from 9am to 3pm, table tennis competition from 10am to 2pm and football match from 3pm to 6pm.
He said there will be a scrabble and chess competition at Ago-Iwoye City Hall on Wednesday, 11th October, between 9am and 2pm, while the traditional Ayo Olopon competition will be held at the Ebumawe's palace the same day from 3pm to 4pm.
On Thursday, 12th October, there will be a marathon race round the town in the morning, while quiz competition and public lecture will be held at the City Hall in the afternoon.
A health walk will herald the activities slated for Friday, 13th October, at 6am, and will be followed by a Jumat service at 1pm.
In the evening of Friday, tagged Eberipo Nite, the local delicacy of Ago-Iwoye will be on display amid fanfare, with a top musician on the band stand to entertain guests.
The grand finale of the 2023 Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, 14th October, 2023, at Imososi Primary School play ground, starting from 10am.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun will be the Distinguished Guest of Honour at the occasion, while Oluomo (Dr) Femi Bakre, Managing Director/CEO of Parallex Bank is the Chairman of the event, as Alhaja Medinat Kazeem, Iya Adinni of Ago-Iwoye will be the Chairperson.
Other guests expected to grace the occasion include; Chief Jacob Olusegun Akanji, Akinrogun of Ososa-Ijebu, Dr. Iziak Salako, Minister of State for Environment and other notable personalities.
This year's Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration will also be used to raise funds for completion of ongoing community development projects.
