A motorcyclist and one pedestrian were on Friday morning crushed to death by a truck at Sango-Ota toll gate, on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
Spokesperson, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta .
Akinbiyi noted that the accident occurred at 5:30am and was caused by brake failure on the part of the driver of the truck marked T-14223LA.
He explained that the accident involved Volvo truck, Honda motorcycle and a Bajaj motorcycle .
The TRACE spokesperson added that the incident involved four male and one female , saying that three people were injured while two persons died.
”According to eyewitness account, the truck experienced brake failure while on motion and rammed into two stationed motorcycles parked beside the road and a pedestrian.
”On one of the motorcycles was the motorcyclist, who owns it and was sleeping on it before it was rammed into by the truck.
”The motorcyclist died immediately with a female pedestrian who was standing by the roadside to board a vehicle.
”Unfortunately, the truck driver and the motorboy ran away to avoid been attacked,” he said.
Akinbiyi stated that the dead female victim had been taken away by her family members for burial, while the other deceased was deposited at Ifo General Hospital morgue.
He said that the injured victims were rescued by good Samaritans to an unknown clinic.
He advised articulated vehicle drivers to service and maintain their vehicles always before setting out on a journey
