PDP members protest alleged exclusion from LG Caretaker Committees

Members of the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday protested against their alleged exclusion from benefitting political patronage following the removal of their names from list of local government caretaker committee.

This protest followed the inaugurated caretaker committees
Governor Ademola Adeleke to oversee administration of local government council areas across the state.

The protest which occurred in some local government areas, including Osogbo, Ede, Ayedire, has the protesters agitating against the removal of names of some politicians from the list of officials inaugurated by the governor.

The protesters in Osogbo, besieged the popular Olaiya junction with placards protesting against the removal of Segun Akeju as Chairman, Osogbo West LCDA.

Speaking with newsmen at Olaiya, leader of the protesters, Ismail Abiola said accused some community leaders of attempting to destroy the party by replacing Akeju's name.

"Akeju worked for the victory of the party only to be replaced with someone not known to party members. We demand that Akeju's name be returned as the Chairman instead of council Secretary", he said.

Similarly in Ede, some residents protest around the Governor's private lodge protesting what they described as doctoring of the party's list. The story is the same in Ilesa-West and Ayedire local government areas among others.
