The Nasarawa Police Command said it has arrest a 38-year old man, Abubakar Saidu, his wife and three others over alleged abduction of a two-year-old minor for ransom
In the same vein, the command also nabbed leaders of a cult group who has been on the wanted list of the command for various offences.
Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel stated this while briefing journalists in Lafia, explained that the suspect, Abubakar Saidu conspired with his wife, three other suspects to kidnap the son of his neighbour.
According to Nansel, the suspects put a call to the parents of the abducted boy demanding N2.5 million ransom as a condition for the child's release adding that the two-year-old boy had been recovered in good condition and reunited with his parents.
When asked in an interview, Saidu Abubakar confessed conniving with three of his friends to abduct the minor and hand him over to his wife, who took the boy to Katsina State for purported ‘safekeeping’ pending the payment of the ransom.
“I regret my role in the kidnapping of the two-year-old boy. The parents are my closed-door neighbours; I needed money, which is why we abducted the child. It was in the process of negotiation for the ransom that the police tracked us down and arrested us”, Saidu said
