The Osun State government and the State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP on Wednesday shunned the commendation service organised by friends and associates of the late South West Zonal Vice Chairman, Soji Adagunodo.
But speaking at the commendation service, former Governor of the State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola said the party has loss a gallant warrior.
Oyinlola said the party, the state and Ijesaland has lost a quality political leader in the late politician.
He added that the late former PDP Chairman in the state excelled in all his assignment, describing as one who knows when and how to approach a battle as well as when to be reconciliatory.
"In the death of Soji Adagunodo, I feel the loss of a general in battle. He was more than a political associate to me. He was a brother and comrade in my political journey throughout my days as governor of Osun State.
"He was brave and could be very stubborn. The traits are identified in every true Ijesa, man or woman. But he was very wise and knowledgeable in all to know when to fight and when to be reconciliatory. Such men are very rare to find in today's Nigeria.
"The Peoples Democratic Party has lost a leader with a heart of gold. Osun State and Ijesa land in particular have lost a priceless son. However, we cannot query God. He gives and takes according to His will. May his soul find peace in the bosom of the Lord. May his family, friends and associates be comforted", Oyinlola said.
One of the organisers, Rahman Owokoniran, said it was unfortunate that neither the state government nor the party in the state were represented despite that letters and invitation sent to them.
"It is unfortunate that neither the state government nor PDP in the state were represented. Letters was sent but there was no reply and we sent invitation as well. We have zonal officers at the event to pay their last respect", he said
