Borno Muslim, Christian faithfuls prays for rainfall, as crops dries up

Following prolonged lack of rainfall, millions of Muslim and Christian faithfuls embarked on prayers seeking God's favour as many crops and farmlands have dried up in parts of Northern and Central Borno senatorial districts.

Several Churches on Sunday dedicated prayer sessions for rainfall during service in Maiduguri and its environs.

Recall that some communities have not experience rainfall for the past one month, leading to severe devastation on crops and farmlands.

In Dikwa local government area of Borno Central, thousands of Muslim worshipers converged Sunday 16th July 2023 onto the outskirt of the town, where they performed two Rak’at Prayers for Rain as earlier enjoined by His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-kanemi.

The prayers was to seek for Divine intervention as a result of shortage of Rain in this year’s Raining season.

This is even as the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-kanemi has enjoined Muslim Ummah to come out enmass to attend the forthcoming congregational prayers to also seek for divine intervention for rainfall in the state.

A statement signed and made available to our Correspondent in Maiduguri by the Private Secretary to the Shehu, Zannah Umar Ali indicates that the two rakat prayers for rainfall in Maiduguri and its environs will hold on Monday the 17th of July, 2023 at Ramat Square Maiduguri by 10 O’clock in the morning.

Meanwhile, with the returning of relative Peace in Dikwa Emirate, thousands of residents have embarked on farming this season, but due to shortage of rain, it has significantly affected crop production and livelihood both of Human and Animals.

While delivering his sermon at the prayer ground, Imam Edaini of Dikwa on Sunday,  Imam Muhammad Imam enjoined the worshipers to seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah (God) on the wrongs they committed in their daily activities.

The Imam quoted several  Verses and  sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( PBHM) which stated that, 'a nation will be ruined, if it deviate from obeying Allah's Commandment, and be blessed if it adhere to His Commands'.

Imam Muhammad also Urged Muslim Ummah to be their brothers' keeper, shun all evils and prayerful for Allah to restore peace and Shower His Infinite Mercy to Dikwa Emirate, Borno state and the Country at large.

While admonition the people of Dikwa Emirate, His royal Highness, the Shehu of Dikwa, Urged them to abstain from all evils and engage themselves with acts that will please Almighty Allah which in turn will shower His Mercy by sending His dawn pour that would lead to bumper Harvest.

Those who attended the Congregation prayer include His Royal Highness the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-kanemi, Islamic Scholars, Government Officials, sons and daughters of Dikwa Emirate among others.
