"Stop stealing public money, it can't safe you - Kwankwaso to politicians

Former Kano state Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has called on politicians including public officers to stop stealing public funds for their selfishness, but rather invest on people as a way of building the nation and also leaving a lasting legacy when they are out of office.

Kwankwaso who was the Chairman at the inaugural lecture to usher in the administration of the Governor elect of Niger state, Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Bago and his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba in Minna yesterday said, public officers serving in whatever capacity should not see amassing wealth as the ultimate but rather dedicate its tenure in investing on the people which they have come to serve.

With the theme as"Addressing the Challenges of Socio Economic Development at Sub National level in Nigeria, Kwankwaso declared,
"Don't see money as everything. Our mission is to serve the  people to the best of our ability, help the needy and and bring up the downtrodden.

"Stealing money cannot safe you. If you like, sell all the land around you, sell all the buildings around you, if you even like, sell all the Mosques and Churches around you, this cannot help you. What will help you is the legacies you left behind," he declared.

The former Governor and Minister of Defence charged the incoming Governor to invest heavily on education which he described as the everlasting legacy he can bequeath on the younger generations who are the future leaders.

"Investing heavily on education may not manifest almost immediately but it is certainly the future of any state and country.

"Security is very important but education tops them all because and educated person can never be misled especially to take arms and start killing arbitrarily. I deliberately invested on education when I was Governor for Kano state and the young people I invested on are presently my backbone and greatest political supporters.

From day one in office, start investing on education and by this, you are investing on the people and leaving a lasting legacy that will speak for you while in and out of office," Kwankwaso advised.
