Security guard allegedly defiled 4-year-old girl in Lagos school

The mother of the four-year-old pupil who was allegedly defiled by the security guard, Mr David on the 27th of April, 2023 in Greater Scholars International School, Lekki, said, they found out when the victim began to act differently.

The mother of the victim said when my husband went to pick our daughter up from school on the day she was defiled, he noticed that it took a while before she came out.

He wanted to find out what was happening in the class, but before he could walk to the class the security guard had already brought her out with her launch bag. But she was looking very downcast, unlike her usual self.

Normally when her father picks her up she is always happy and hugs him, but this very day she was so gloomy and downcast and he asked her what is wrong with her she said nothing."

Explaining further, the toddler's mother said, "It was the same thing when she got home, she wasn't her bubbling self. I also noticed that the trouser I wore for her wasn't what she wore back home from school. I checked her backpack I realised that they had wrapped it in a nlyon, and it looked like it had been washed."

She was gloomy throughout the weekend and her father and I were worried about what would have happened to her.

However, trouble started on Sunday night when my daughter complained that her private part was paining her while peeing in the restroom. Immediately I poured water on her, and she started crying and screaming that her private part is still paining her."

"Her dad who was in the other room had to run out to know why she is crying so much. I had to explain to him. I asked my husband to point a phone light towards her to let me check what was causing the pain when I now looked into her, I saw that she had some cuts, bruises and injuries. I knew something was not right."

"Immediately, we took her to Lifeline Children's Hospital in Lekki Phase 1, that night. After the paediatrician examined her. They ran a UTI test and the result came out negative then obviously it was pointed to abuse.

While we were there, they sent the pictures of the injuries and we were to be referred to a gynaecologist.

Then the next day which was Monday we went to Lagos Island Maternity Hospital where we saw a gynaecologist, two gynaecologists looked at her and said this does not look like an infection but let's run a test just to be sure, but this looks like an abuse. The test result came out negative for UTI as in the other hospital."

When we asked my daughter, what happened to her, it was difficult before she opened up. You could see the fear in her eyes, we had to assure her she wasn't going back to the school before she opened up that it was Mr David the school security that put his thing in my bumbum.

My daughter said after she was abused, she went to report to her teacher that Mr David put his thing in my bumbum, the teacher flogged her and told her not to tell anyone."

"So my mother-in-law and I went back to school on Tuesday which was after the May 1st public holiday to see the teachers and admin persons to find out what was happening to our daughter that she came back with bruises in her vagina.

From the school's response, it was obvious they were being economical with what happened as their explanation didn't add up. That was why the police was involved.

Calling on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP, Idowu Owohunwa, the heartbroken mother said, I plead with the State Commissioner of Police to use his office and ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated and my daughter gets justice.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the suspect has been arrested and is still in custody. A medical report that would ensure a conviction is expected.
