LP Crisis: You're being sponsored to subvert Peter Obi's chances at Tribunal - Osuntokun tells Apapa

The Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Akin Osuntokun has described the Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the LP as being sponsored by people whose interest is to subvert the Labour Party in the Presidential Election Tribunal.

Speaking on Channels Television, 'Politics Today', Osuntokun insisted that their conduct subverted the Labour Party by all means.

“Lamidi Apapa group has a nuisance value, if not that, they are sponsored, why should you be creating problems for that kind of person (Peter Obi)? Why not go to him?

“They have never said anything that will help the party. You are always trying to drag the party into the mord. Making all sorts of wild allegations, accusing the Presidential candidate of diverting campaign money.”

Asked where the storm could be coming from, Osuntokun said: “Maybe APC because they have a vested interest in a weak Labour Party whose Presidential candidate is challenging them at the court.

“Obi has attained an international reputation. The international communities are interested in him. The APC deeply know in their heart with INEC who won the election and who at least won the majority of the votes.

“Obi has a demographic that anybody who means well for Nigeria ought to look at him. He is the most important political leader today in Nigeria. Look at their conduct, it is obstructionist, anything that would subvert the Labour Party, you will find them there.

“These people don't have the means of moving around, flying all over the place, somebody must be behind it. The issue is there's an orchestration by somebody who has a vested interest. These people are machineries , they are of no consequence to the party at all. Asked any of them their contribution towards the Presidential candidate, or any governorship candidate”.
