Police arrest nine suspects over murder robbery, cultism in Osun






The Osun State Police Command has arrested nine suspects over alleged robbery and cultism activities in Osogbo and Esa-Oke towns respectfully.

According to the Command's spokesperson Yemisi Opalola, four of the suspects were arrested in Osogbo over motorcycle robbery.

She added that Mojeed Olarewaju, 29, Ahmed Jelili, 40, Azeez Tunde, 32 and Bakare Soliu, 25, were arrested after a tip off that the motorcycle-snatching gang were sighted at Alie area of the state capital on April 30, 2023.

Three of  suspects, she added were ex convict, while the fourth specialised in buying stolen motorcycles. 

She added that five motorcycles, four Bajaj and a TVS, were recovered from the suspects.

Similarly, she stated that five suspects were arrested in Esa-Oke, Obokun local government area of the state over the murder of a suspected cultist, Abiodun Toyeeb on April 27, 2023.

She added that investigation after the Toyeeb was killed revealed that he was a member of Alore confraternity while the leader of the rival cult group, one Ibrahim Qudus suspected to belong to Black Axe was arrested along with four others.

Opalola further disclosed that the two vehicles allegedly used for the operation were recovered and some other exhibits, including one axe, three Iphones and charms

"The other suspects are Adeleke Taiwo, 23, Ojo Ayobami, 26, Ojo Oretu, 24 and Adeleke Kehinde, 23, and would be arraigned in court after investigation, she added.
