The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested seven persons caught hoarding premium motor spirit popularly known as petrol in Osogbo.
The NSCDC's team, comprising of officers from the vandalizing unit, was on monitoring exercise on hoarding of product across the state.
In a statement by the Command's spokesperson Kehinde Adeleke, the arrested suspects were filling station attendant, supervisor and managers.
The Corps Commandant, Agboola Sunday, according to the statement disclosed that the filling stations had product in their tanks but were not dispensing the product, while motorists queue without hope to get petrol
He added that the suspects upon questioned disclosed that they were waiting for instruction from their headquarters to proceed with dispensing the product.
Agboola reiterated that the corps would continue to clamp down on any illegal activity that is aimed at frustrating the efforts of the government by making the fuel products unavailable to Nigerians.
He called on members of the public to report filling stations that are hell bent on bringing untold hardship to masses, noting that fuel hoarding is tantamount to economic sabotage and offenders would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
