Fake policewoman arrested for allegedly robbing PoS operators

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old woman for impersonation.

The suspect allegedly impersonated a police officer to rob different Point of Sale (POS) operators in Osogbo, the State capital.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola told newsmen that she was taken into custody on Tuesday after her rescue from a mob.

The personnel who saved her from lynching, took her to Ata-Oja Police Division in Osogbo.

“In April, the suspect went to a PoS stand and presented herself as a police officer serving at Ata-Oja Police Division.

“She ‘arrested’ the sales girl and seized her bag containing a PoS machine, N20,000 and one phone valued N15,000″, Opalola said.

On their way to Ata-Oja Police Division, the suspect tricked her victim to make a photocopy of a document, but ran away.

Upon arrest, N246,650, an Opay PoS machine worth N30,000, one phone, one Ekiti State University identity card and one voter’s card were recovered.

Also, two PoS business record books and one itel phone without battery, suspected to belong to another victim, were found.

Investigation showed the suspect already transferred N100,000 from the recovered PoS machine to a bank account. She will be charged to court soon.
