Assault on policeman: Police seek Court order to remand Seun in custody

Son of music legend,  late Fela Kuti, Seun, may remain in Police custody longer than expected as the Police on Tuesday, sought a court order to remand him in custody, pending when investigation into the assault on a policeman is concluded.

Seun was taken to the Yaba Court 1, this morning.

Police sources explained that the action became necessary in order not to violate the constitutional duration of detention of suspects.

Besides, Police sources attributed  Seun's refusal to write a statement on the matter when he was taken to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, SCIID, yesterday morning, to the cause of the delay.

Sources said, "Immediately the incident happened, the Police officer reported the matter. There was also a video of him (Seun ) slapping and pushing the policeman on the Third Mainland bridge.

However, that is not enough to conclude the investigation. There is a need for him to state his side, as part of the investigation. But he refused to write his statement yesterday (Monday) morning when told to do so".
