Chief Imam of Egbaland, suspended Egba Muslim sets up investigation panel

The Egba Muslim Community has suspended its Chief Imam, Sheik Sa’adullah Bamigbola indefinitely and with immediate effect.

The suspension of the Egba Grand Imam followed an extra ordinary meeting of the executive committee of the Egba Muslim Community, that took place at the Baba Adeen’s house, Navy Capt Rasheed Raji, GRA Ibara, Abeokuta, on Monday 27 of the March.

A communique issued at the end of the expanded executive meeting, stated that, the immediate suspension of the Chief Imam was as a result of the Cleric’s high handedness, administrative exclusivity, mishandling of funds and conflicting of interest between his position as the the Chief Imam and membership of another association.

The communique also disclosed that the Olori Ratibi of Egbaland, Alhaji Daud Durojaye Afuwape, should takeover, in acting capacity of all the spiritual functions of the suspended Egba Chief Cleric.

The statement referenced attempts by well meaning Egba Community leaders including Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, to make the Chief Imam cooperate with members of the Egba Muslim community without success.

It also revealed that the Chief Imam also actively promoted disinformation and misrepresentation of the status of the Egba Muslim Community as a representation of the ethos, wills and fortune of the entire Egba Muslims, arrogating clubs and societies over and above his immediate and lawful responsibility of the spiritual leadership of the Egba Muslim community.

Members of the Ogun State meeting council present at the extra ordinary meeting included, the Baba Adeen and Chief Executive; Navy Capt Rasheed Raaji; Balogun Chief Abdulkadeer Orunsolu; the Seriki Chief Abdulateef Abiola; the Bada Chief Sheriff Ogunrinola; the Olori Omokeu, Sheik Daud Durojaye Afuwape and the Baba Isale, Chief Usman Kushimo

Other Egba Muslim Chiefs at the occasion included, Aare Layi Labode , Bashorun Sakiru Akingbade and Akogun Ismaila Odejimi.
