The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, has called on Nigerians who contested the presidential and National Assembly elections to accept the results in good faith.
The association gave the advice in a statement signed by its Deputy National President (Administration), Muhammed Bishara, and made available to journalists on Friday.
“The RTEAN National President, Dr Musa Maitakobi, urges candidates in the various parties in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.
"There is need for both the contestants and their supporters to keep their minds open and be ready to take whatever be the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly polls,” the statement read.
While describing the electoral process as largely peaceful and transparent, the association commended security agencies for what it called their dedication and professionalism.
The statement added, "RTEAN National President, on behalf of the National Executive, Zonal Coordinators and State Coordinators of the organization, wish to convey RTEAN’s heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC."
The organisation expressed optimism that the emergence of Tinubu as President-elect of Nigeria would usher in progress and development in the country.
It added that Tinubu demonstrated a consistent fidelity to progressive and welfarist ideals, and an ability to build bridges across several divides.
RTEAN also enjoined members of the association and Nigerian youths to remain law abiding and eschew conduct capable of leading to disturbance of public peace.
It further appealed to religious and traditional leaders and principals of schools and NGOs to join RTEAN in sensitizing the youths against embarking on any criminal act that might destroy their future.
