Former Governor - elect of Bayelsa State, Chief David Lyon has asked the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC to grant him the right of first refusal ahead of the April 10 Governorship Primary Election in the state.
His kinsmen had few days ago made the same demand, saying he ought not to be subjected to any contest.
Speaking at the APC national secretariat shortly after submitting his Governorship Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms, Lyon also pleaded with Nigerians to vote for the presidential candidate of the party, AsÃwájú Bola Tinubu.
He said; "I want to use this medium to thank especially the state and national executives of our party who gave me the privilege to be the party's candidate in the 2019 governorship election which I won, but God knows the best, I wasn't sworn in as Governor.
"In the same light, I want to thank the good people of Bayelsa state who voted massively for me in that election also.
"Allow me to request our great party, APC, to grant me the right of first refusal regarding our party primaries date as outlined by the national headquarters.
"At this particular point, I want to appeal to all Nigerians and well meaning Bayelsans to come out en-mass and vote all our candidates in the 2023 general elections, most especially our presidential candidate, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose track records in human capacity development is equal to none contesting for the office of the President".
