Avert looming war in Nigeria - Oluwo tells Buhari

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to address the issue of fuel and new naira notes scarcity before they snowballed into crisis.

He gave the advice in Ibadan, at the 5th year remembrance of a foremost Ibadan-based industrialist, Otunba Moses Isamat Adebayo, "BASCO."

Lamenting that Nigerians are buying the country’s currency to feed, the monarch noted that the ugly trend had  already eroded the goodwill the Federal Government claimed it enjoyed in the faces of many Nigerians.

According to Oluwo: "About the State of the Nation in our country, we are so close to war. I can see many Nigerians suffering. We cannot buy petroleum products at affordable prices."

"And the current new naira notes scarcity is a huge problem on its own. These are the issues the president should address urgently."

"Unless some urgent redemptive steps are taken to ameliorate the debilitating effects of this trend, the consequences will be very unpleasant for the country."

"There is anger, frustration everywhere; The current hardship being experienced by the ordinary people forebodes unpleasant consequences. These crises may set in motion a chain of events the end of which is better imagined."

"The Federal Government must make a categorical pronouncement on the availability of petrol and its price since it is the general belief that the country still pays humongous amounts as subsidy."

"A situation which permits a few individuals to inflict pains on the populace, seemingly without check, is deplorable."

In his submission, a lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola in the House of Representatives, who is also the current senatorial candidate of Accord Party for Oyo North senatorial district, Shina Peller said: "For Nigeria to move forward, the nation must stop strengthening an individual ahead of institutions."

"This is not the first time things will be turning up side down in Nigeria. So for me, I will always believe the solution is to usher in a peoples government. And when I say, a peoples government, I mean pro-youth peoples government."

"God did not create Nigeria or Nigerians to suffer. Nigeria has the the resources to make us the best country in the world. But due to bad leadership we have found ourselves in, the only way we can correct that, is to have a government."

Nigerians must understand that, they must vote for competence, capacity and character. If we do that definitely, things will be right."

"Nigeria is at a state where decisions as re made without thinking about the public. Before you take any decision, I expect that you must have proffered solutions to all problems that will prop up."

"What Nigeria needs at a time like this is a system, not a messiah. A system is a combination of people working together. So, I urge the youths to vote for problem solvers, persons who have shown capacity and capability."
