National Association of Seadogs (NAS) otherwise known as Pyrates Confreternity has taken campaign for promotion of Girl's Child Education to Government Secondary School, Afon in Asa local government area of kwara state where it inspired the girl child that they could be great in life citing world class examples of female personalities .
The association also donated free writing materials to female students and advocated for free education from primary to secondary schools in the country.
The campaign was part of activities lined up to commemorate the 70 years anniversary of the formation of the association in Nigeria.
Captain of the deck, Engineer , Adeolu Sayomi in his address at the occasion said members of the association were out to inspire the girl child in the rural communities to embrace education.
He said the female students have the capacity, capability and competence to be successful in life like other world class female leaders,only that they need to be educated and be determined to achieve their goals in life.
He said the association was also keen at ensuring that girls child have equal opportunity to access quality education with their male counterparts in line with SDGs 3 and 4.
Sayomi urged the students to speak out in case they suffer any form of abuses.
Speaking on the topic "Girl's Child Education in Nigeria" , former Consultant with DFiA, Dr Aderemi Medupin, advocated free education from primary to secondary schools in public Schools in Nigeria.
He shared pictures and qoutes of many national and world female leaders to inspire the female students that being a girl child is not a barrier to attaining any feats in all disciplines including military, acdemicc; politics , sports and entertainment.
The University Don therefore urged the female students to dare to succeed in life,stressing that they are the only barrier to their own success in life.
Vice principal of the School, Mrs Olawuyi Omolara counselled the students to prioritise their education first amongst other wishes
"There is time for everything , you should first wear the Academicc gown followed by wedding gown before maternity gown ", she said
